I live on an inhabited mountain, and I edit a weekly arts and community magazine for a regional newspaper -- I explore used bookstores and cow pastures and art conservation labs and Taiwanese dance and plum orchards for a living. Most of all, I listen to people talk. For love of it, I'm a novelist, a recorder player at outdoor music jams, an older sister. I can mostly stay on a cantering horse, row a boat on a flat calm cove, and drive a tractor.
